Dr. Rimantas Gatautis is Chief Development Officer and Research Affiliate at the European Institute of Interdisciplinary Research (EIIR) in Kaunas, Lithuania.

He holds a PhD in Economic Sciences he received from the Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania. His research concentrates on the IST influence on enterprise transformation in transition economies, e-business models in transition economies, socio-economic aspects of IST adaptation, IST influence on governance and democracy processes, knowledge role in value creation and knowledge driven innovations.

Dr. Gatautis is also director of the Electronic Business Research Center at Kaunas University of Technology. In this role, he gained a large experience in European Commission funded projects including the Leonardo da Vinci, EUREKA, COST and 6th Framework Program (FP6). He is currently involved in several research projects under FP6 and Special Actions projects funded by the European Commission. He was also involved in a number of national projects related to eCities strategies development and national Information Society assessment projects. In the center, he worked on the Lithuania State Central Database conception development, Lithuania eHealth infrastructure feasibility study and other Structural Funds projects.

Additionnally, he acts as a member of several scientific and advisory committees responsible for evaluating national government programs in the domains of electronic business and electronic government (e-Government). He serves as an expert in the Lithuanian National Study and Science Fund, Information Society Development Committee under the Lithuanian Government, Education Studies Quality Assessment Center and as a reviewer of projects in the EU eTen programme.
